Jarod heads for Ellesmere Island, hoping to find Major Charles there. Catching the last helicopter before the onset of a major storm, Jarod arrives at The Centre's Arctic Research Facility on Ellesmere Island with papers showing him to be Earth Watch climatologist Jarod "Meade."

Shortly afterwards, Smitty, the communications operator, suffers a fatal "accident" and the only radio at the facility is damaged beyond repair. Next, Dr. Moore appears to have been murdered, his body thrown in the incinerator, and Joe Taylor appears to have been electrocuted while trying to keep the generator running. Captain Osborne is forced to admit that there may be someone else on site-someone who is killing his team one at a time.

When Jarod reveals that the doctor faked his death and killed the other team members, he also confronts the captain, declaring that Osborne knows more about what's going on at the station than he has been admitting. In a moment of truth, Jarod learns that Captain Osborne served with his father in the "Circle of Fire" unit and has spent the last ten months helping Major Charles to find out the true purpose of The Centre's hidden research facility.

Moments before a bomb eradicates all trace of the station at Ellesmere Island, a dying Osborne tells Jarod that genetic research has been conducted there for years and that Dr. Moore managed to successfully map Jarod's DNA. He also tells Jarod that Major Charles got safely away and is staying with his daughter at the Osborne Flight School.

While Mr. Parker receives word from Mr. Raines that the "Alpha Project" has been compromised by Major Charles, Angelo sends a video feed of the meeting to Jarod. Broots intercepts Mr. Raines' priority one message and Angelo's video feed to Jarod, giving Miss Parker all the information she needs to find the man she believes is responsible for her mother's death-Major Charles. Along with Sydney and Broots, she heads to The Centre's Arctic facility but ends up grounded in Canada, waiting for the storm that hit Ellesmere Island right after Jarod arrived there to abate.
